The Rural Health Clinic program is meant to extend entry to primary care services for patients in rural communities. RHCs could be public, nonprofit, or for-profit healthcare services. To obtain certification, they have to be located in rural, underserved areas. They are required to make use of a group approach of physicians working with non-physician providers corresponding to nurse practitioners , doctor assistants , and authorized nurse midwives to supply providers. The clinic have to be staffed a minimum of 50{4a2e5526d4e63c5a10cac8cf9c2a2f029bdf9fbdd02fb6ce4e0c6c72fcce6f75} of the time with an NP, PA, or CNM (requirement waived during COVID-19 public health emergency). RHCs are required to supply outpatient primary care providers and basic laboratory companies. The One Health Clinic serves patients and their animals twice a month.
